Made by Wedgwood in the late 1800s, this five-piece majolica service pairs four plates with a pedestal serving platter. Sculpted floral forms and layered green leaves give the set a richly textured, monochrome presence, ideal for serving cake, fruit, or an afternoon spread. Flowing, multi-toned glazes create a glossy deep green surface with natural pooling and subtle drips along the mold lines and base, both characteristic of the period glazing process. The platter is equally striking on display between occasions. The full set arrives beautifully wrapped and ready to give.
As antique majolica, the service should be hand washed and protected from sudden temperature changes; it is not suitable for a dishwasher or microwave. The four plates show visible crazing consistent with age, with no chips, cracks, or repairs visible. The platter has one small chip, approximately 3/16 inch, to the outer tip of one sunflower petal on the rim. It is visible on inspection but unobtrusive in display and does not affect use.
