Flowing, multi-toned glazes create a glossy deep green surface with natural pooling and subtle drips along the mold lines and base, both characteristic of the period glazing process. As antique majolica, the service should be hand washed and protected from sudden temperature changes; it is not suitable for a dishwasher or microwave. The four plates show visible crazing consistent with age, with no chips, cracks, or repairs visible. The platter has one small chip, approximately 3/16 inch, to the outer tip of one sunflower petal on the rim. It is visible on inspection but unobtrusive in display and does not affect use.
